Data sources & attribution
hoopledger serves facts — who was traded, signed, or waived, and when. Facts are not copyrightable, but we still believe in saying where they come from. Everything on this site is served from our own database; we never proxy or hotlink third-party pages.
Transactions
- NBA.com public player-movement feed (2015–present). This is the same data behind the transactions list in the NBA app; we reconstruct multi-team trades from it.
Player career statistics
- NBA/ABA/BAA Stats by Sumitro Datta on Kaggle (CC0: Public Domain) — per-season totals and player bios, full league history. Refreshed after each season, so a just-finished season may lag until the dataset's next edition.
Salaries & contracts
- NBA Player Stats and Salaries 2010-2025 by ratin21 on Kaggle (CC0: Public Domain) — historical player salaries through the 2024-25 season.
- HoopsHype salaries — current-season and future contract commitments (with player/team-option and two-way flags) that power the player timeline's current year and each team's salary-commitment view. Salary figures for fringe deals (two-ways, 10-days) can be incomplete; a missing figure shows as “—”, never $0.
- League cap, luxury-tax and apron thresholds are public NBA figures kept in a small hand-maintained table; future seasons are labelled projections.
Coming later
- Rumors — headlines and links out to the original reporting, never article bodies.
No NBA trademarks, logos, or photographs are used. Team colors and player initials are our own rendering. Spotted an error? The data pipeline flags disagreements for manual review — corrections welcome.
